Personalize Him

‘The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety’ Ps.18:2

God does not just want to be the Alpha and Omega to you, He desires to be your Alpha and Omega. It is impossible to have God to yourself alone but you can choose to personalize your every interaction with Him. Personalize His Word, personalize His praise and worship. Paul admonishes us to look for every opportunity to sing to God from our heart. Do not just call Him God, call Him my God; that is what God wants. David wrote nine personalized revelations about God in Psalm 18:2. David could have said ‘our Rock’ or ‘the place of safety’ but David said ‘my’. Learn from David how to relate with God. Learn from God who constantly calls us His own. If you take the sacrifice of Jesus alone, it’s more than enough to personalize Him. Jesus does not stop there; He is constantly interceding for you. The Bible says God has our names engraved in the palm of His hand. How personal is that. At some point in your Christian walk, you experience God as your Father. When everybody abandons you, your Father does not abandon you. When everyone condemns you, your Father because He is your Father comes to you and holds you. ‘There is no condemnation in Christ Jesus’. ‘But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory, and the lifter of my head’ Ps.3:3. Again, David, the deeper his experiences with God the more personal he gets in praising God and acknowledging God’s personal touch. What is God to you, can you say the Lord is my Shepard, my Rock, my Defense, my High Tower, my Buckler, my Shield, and/or my God. This is what God wants for you. God wants to draw you into a relationship where like David, your communication with Him and of Him will be personalized; where without a shadow of confusion you too can say ‘my God’.
