Growing Spiritual Roots

Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness’ Col.2:7

The challenge with a lot of us is that different areas of our lives lack the fruit that is required and that God intends for us. So see lives that are void of the fruits of fulfilment. A lot of us need to sink our roots in God. God wants us to grow roots. God in His Word is saying we are to let our roots sink deep in Christ and not let ourselves get carried away with philosophies. Yes you are to open your mind to knowledge but be mindful of the content you take in. The only thing

that will survive the onslaught of hell is our roots in Christ Jesus. The Bible says we are complete in Him who is the head of principalities and powers [Col.2:10]. If we can sink our roots into Christ no principality will prevail over us. For some people they appear to be established then they are blown away because they don’t have roots. There are people who start off on the path to establishment but because they have not grown roots they get blown away. The root is the part of the plant that attaches itself to the ground. If we are to be grounded this year then we must grow roots. If you and I are to be established then we must grow roots. Growing roots is not an option. This is the year of our establishment in the Name of Jesus. What that translates to is that we must grow roots.  To be established financially for instance without growing spiritual roots is a suicide mission. For those that have been called into politics, if you get there without roots, they will subdue you. That is why it is called the corridor of power. For some they know God has called them into the corridor of power but it is elusive. The reason is that God loves you and He does not want to you to die. So you have to pay attention to this thing called roots. It is the lack of roots that makes Christians get to the place of authority and behave like vagabonds. A tree that wants to grow upwards but refuses to grow downwards will be blown away by pressure. If we must bear fruits this year then we must grow roots.

Prayer: Father, I submit myself to Your root growing process. Teach me to pay attention to the things that will grow my roots so that I can bear fruit, in Jesus Name
