Fulfilling Prophecy I
‘Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding’ 2 Peter 1:20
Prophecies are conditional. The fact that prophecy is released does not necessarily mean that it will come to pass. For example, God says ‘pray that the God of the harvest will send labourers into His vine yard’. This is a prophecy of sending labourers but the condition is that you pray. Prayer is one of the keys to fulfilling this prophecy. A lot of us have prophecies hanging over us. For the next few days, we will be learning about the four necessary steps to fulfilling prophecy. The first step to fulfilling prophecy is that you have to Receive the Prophecy. Receiving God’s prophecy releases the power to fulfill the prophecy. If you do not receive the prophecy you cannot fulfill it. No matter how authentic the prophecy is, you must receive it to benefit from it. The first proof that you have received the prophecy is that that you will act it out. Your actions show if you receive the prophecy or not. Many have not received the prophecy that Nigeria will be great because they act contrary to it. Many have not received the prophecy that God will prosper them because they are still acting contrary to this prophecy. By their actions, you can tell those who have received a prophecy or not. ‘But to all who believed Him and accepted Him, He gave the right to become children of God’ John 1:12. To become the Child of God you must receive and accept Jesus. The testimony of Jesus is a spirit of prophecy. Speaking the prophecy is the second proof that you have received it. ‘But we continue to preach because we have the same kind of faith the psalmist had when he said, I believed in God, so I spoke’ 2Cor.4:13. Are you speaking the prophecy or the obvious? Speaking the prophecy cancels out the obvious. You need to say what is consistent with God’s Word for you. Saying the truth is saying God’s word. While I am not saying you should deny the fact that you are in pain, I am saying speak the prophecy. Speak it because you will have what you say.
Prayer: Father, please be with my mouth and teach me what to say always. I ask for the grace to speak Your truth constantly over my life and in every situation, in Jesus Name.
