New Level
‘…Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water. Yes, come, Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus Matt.14:28-29
Moving from one place to another requires first a decision to let go of point ‘A’ and enter into the relatively new point ‘B’. For you to enter into your new level, you must also be willing to enter the new and exit the old. If you are unwilling to move, entering the new level will be totally impossible. You must be willing to exit certain things to enter into new levels. In today’s Bible reading, Peter was not the only one in the boat. However, when He saw the Way approaching, Peter put forward his desire to exit the old for the new. What Peter was saying in essence was, if you are the Way then give me access to my new level. God will not deny you access to your next level. In actual fact, that next level has been part of His plan since the beginning. Jesus said come. Peter was willing to exit the old and enter the new so he got off the boat and walked on water. If Judas or any of the other disciples had put forward the same request, Jesus will not have denied them access. Perhaps instead, Thomas was wondering what was wrong with Peter. What is the value of walking on water? Why not just stay in the boat and make it through the storms and across to the other side. There are levels in your life that even though you have the access to change, your unwillingness to lose sight of the shore has prevented you from discovering the great things God has in store. Discovering those great things means stepping off the current platform and unto the new one labeled ‘unknown’. You cannot experience the new level while on the old platform. There are certain things or people in your life that you have to be willing to let go of. The challenge a lot of us face is that we want to hold on to the old. Entering the new requires total focus on and trust in God. It is a faith step which requires you to keep your eye on the goal set before you and on the Way. Keep your eyes on Jesus so that you will not sink. If you have taken your eyes off Him, if you will cry out for help today He will immediately reach out and grab you too. [Matt.14:31]
Prayer: Lord, I ask that You be magnified in my life. Work in me through Your Spirit and strengthen me for this next level. Help me keep my eyes on You at all times, in Jesus Name.
