Worth The Pain

‘In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation’ 1 Pet.5:10

There is no doubt that restituting may prove to be a very difficult process. In certain cases, some people will be required to face people they have lied to or cheated in the past. You may actually have to dodge a bullet or two. However, it is God’s purposes that must be priority at all times. If this means anything to you, then you will want to set things right. Restitution does not save you but if you are saved you will be compelled to put things right because it pleases God. The cost of restituting is nothing compared to the consequences of not restituting. Jesus does not only forgive but He changes us when we submit to Him. And that change results in a desire to put things in order [Luke 19:1-10]. In response to your obedience to restitute, God works out in you far greater things. When you restitute, you are able to enjoy complete spiritual restoration and new levels of intimacy with God. A flip side to this is that God can be using your obedience to reach a soul for the Kingdom. When you confess to your boss about the money you stole and pay it back. He is better able to see the image of Christ. Your refusal to restitute may just be holding back God’s hand from reaching someone. Restitution is not about you. Once you can remove yourself from the picture and focus on God, the shame that you are so scared of experiencing will lose its hold on you. Some people are so afraid to face people. You should be more concerned about your stand with God. Some people erroneously think that they can give the monetary value of the things they are meant to restitute, i.e, give it as an offering in church. The truth is that if you give it as an offering, it will still not be restitution. There is no one that genuinely restitutes and does not experience overflowing joy. It is usually as though a load is taken off your shoulder and you are free to walk with God. As soon as God shows you what you need to do in order to restitute, face it head on keeping God as priority. When you hear the voice of the Lord today concerning restitution, do not harden your heart. His grace is more than sufficient.
