God bless Nigeria
‘Godliness makes a nation great, but sin is a disgrace to any people’ Prov.14:34
If you travel overseas frequently, you will agree that there really is no group of people like Nigerians. Nigerians are simply unique and fantastic; and the nation is blessed. This country is packed with all sorts of human and material blessings from God. She is not a poor nation by any standard. This blessed country alone can feed the whole of Africa three times over. That is if you factor in every natural resource God has put in us. Nigerians are extremely creative. The power of creativity is that you can make something from nothing. Or you can combine existing things to make new things. Her people prosper everywhere they go. Even though she is a coastal country with mountains, God has kept natural disasters away from her boarders. No tsunami, no earth quakes, and no volcanoes despite her size. Nigeria is one of the few countries left in the world where the younger generation still respects the older generation. This has been sustained by our communal culture which we must strive to retain at all costs especially in the face of westernization. However the greatest enemy of this greatly blessed nation is corruption. The percentage of the corrupt people is not as much as the percentage of the honest people. Owing to our numbers, 2% of 160million is a lot to deal with. There is a lot of effort to try and make us look bad but we are not. Corruption is like a faceless virus that has eaten its way into every sector. A revolution as we know it will not solve the problem. The solution and healing for our land is in God’s Word. Righteousness exalts a nation and sin is a reproach to any people Prov.14:34. The scriptures cannot be broken, God cannot be mocked. As a nation we have to pursue righteousness. It appears to be out of reach but the truth is that it is within our reach. Let us fight corruption by starting with ourselves. It is a decision to make the change that will affect this generation and the next. It will be hard but we will get it right. Change starts with you and I; and it starts now.
Thought: I pledge to Nigeria my country, to be faithful, loyal and honest. To serve Nigeria with all my strength. To defend her unity and uphold her honour and glory. So help me God.
Prayer: Violence shall no longer be heard within our boarders, neither wasting nor destruction. Nigeria’s walls shall be called salvation and her courts praise, in Jesus Name.
