Experiencing Grace
‘Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap’ Gal.6:7.
God sent His son to die for us. Way before we knew God, we had found grace. However, for you to experience grace on a personal level, you must repent. Repentance is the door that opens the grace and mercy of God to us. Without repentance, you shut yourself out of God’s grace. Erroneously, if you don’t understand the grace and mercy of God you will think that grace is a license to misbehave. ‘People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy’ Prov.28:13. Repentance opens the door to grace. With repentance, there has to be a confessing and a turning. Repentance does not consist of confession alone. For a number of people, the reason they have not changed and are still carrying that baggage of sin is because all they do is confess but they do not turn. To find mercy and grace you have to confess and forsake. The root meaning of the word repentance is ‘mind change’. To repent is to change your mind. When there is a change of mind, the direction also changes. When your perception changes, your direction will change. If your perception changes and you claim that your perception has changed and your direction does not change, it is mockery. If you were heading north, then for some reason you change your mind and decide to go south instead; at the point where you change your mind, your direction automatically changes. You look for the next exit and you face the south. That is repentance. If we say that we have repented, we have a new perception- we have a mind change and it does not result in a directional change, we have not repented. It is like choosing to head south but continuing on the path heading north and believe that you will get to the south by the grace of God. The only place you will get to is the north. You can call it south but it will never be the south. There is nothing as capable as destroying your life and destiny as easily as un-repented sin. God is saying you and I need to fulfill our destiny but it starts with repentance.
Prayer: Father, let my attitude to everything that is not pleasing to You be that of a total mind change beginning from today, in Jesus Name.
