Pointers To Un-repented Sin

‘Then the LORD God called to the man, Where are you? He replied, “I heard you walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked…’ Gen.3:9-10

Today, we will be dealing with the components of the baggage of un-repented sin. These are the pointers to the fact that perhaps there is a baggage of un-repented sin you need to deal with. The first pointer to un-repented sin is regret [Read Genesis 3:1-13]. There is no point regretting. In dealing with regret, the first thing you need to know is that you cannot un-sin. Let it go, yes you made the mistake, ask God for forgiveness and let it go. Find someone to talk to. The second pointer is shame. When you find out that you are easily ashamed it is a pointer to un-repented sin. ‘At that moment their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness. So they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselvesGen.3:7. What were they ashamed of really? There were no other humans there. Shame deceptively points to without, where as it is rooted within. The compulsion of shame is to hide and cover up and it is a pointer to an un-repented sin. ‘He replied, I heard you walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked’. The third pointer is fear. Fear tries to make us run, ‘The wicked run away when no one is chasing them, but the godly are as bold as lionsProv.28:1. Your response to every situation is to run and hide. The fourth pointer is that we start to play the blame game. When we refuse to take responsibility for our actions we start to play the blame game. You have to take responsibility for your life. Are you going to take charge of your life or not? Who are you blaming? The fifth component is an effort to manufacture what only God can provide. They sowed fig leaves in attempt to cover themselves and keep the baggage of un-repented sin hidden. The covering can only be done by the glory of God. When the glory departs, the only solution is to go back to God. However, the problem with us is that we want to create substitutes to what only God can provide. Deal with the pointers and go back to God, only He can provide lasting covering.

Thought: Take time out to check if you are nursing fear, shame, regret, playing the blame game or attempting to hide under false covering.

Prayer: Father, I ask for the grace to truthfully deal with myself and any pointer to the baggage of un-repented sin my life or family. Help me not to stay in self-condemnation, in Jesus Name
