The Word: Written and Spoken

‘He sent out His word and healed them, snatching them from the door of death’ Ps.107:20

One of the things that God does to help us break the barriers we face is He sends His Word. These barriers could be cultural, religious, relational, or spiritual. For every barrier we might encounter there is a corresponding Word. For instance in response to the barrier death, God sent the Word of Life [John1:4]. Everyone who desires to break the barrier of death must locate and accept the Word of Life. The written Word of God (the Bible) brings stability into our lives. For the Christian, it is the ultimate authority. ‘All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work’ 2Tim.3:16-17. If there is any contention about any particular issue, once the biblical perspective is expressed by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit that should be the end to all debate or uncertainty.  For instance, there are people who have issues with overly expressed adoration to God. I also was once of the opinion that when you come in praise and worship to the God, you must always be solemn and serious. ‘Applause, everyone. Bravo, bravissimo! Shout God-songs at the top of your lungs!’ Ps.47:1 [MSG].  This scripture and the story of David [2 Sam. 6] broke the back of that barrier for me and I hope it accomplishes same in your life. An extension of the written Word of God, is the spoken Word of God. It is the audible voice of God Himself. The spoken Word of God will never contradict the written Word. When you can audibly hear the voice of God, it builds such a confidence in you that you know you can surmount any challenge that is before you. It is usually precise and complete in itself. For both the written and spoken Word, it is how one receives the word that will determine what transpires in your situation [Heb. 4:2]. In God’s economy, you believe His Word before you see. Doubting God’s Word profits nothing.

Thought: What word has God spoken about you? Believe and act on it. Do not quit till you see it come to pass.

Prayer: Father, I ask that You send Your Word into my life and erase every barrier that stands before me, in Jesus Name.
