Wait!

‘If a man die, shall he live again? All the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come’ Job 14:14 [KJV].

Sometimes when God speaks, situations will arise to try the word He gives you, and by extension try you the believer. In Genesis 15, Abram had just received God’s word of fruitfulness. And in Genesis 16, fresh out of the presence of God his wife Sarai comes to him with her maid to be his substitute wife and mother of his children. Had God not just told him he will have his own child? Sometimes, God gives you a direction or plants you in a certain location. The words that He sends is complete in itself to bring you into prosperity in that same land. Again you most likely will encounter situations that will try the word and your faith in God’s Word. ‘The LORD appeared to Isaac and said, Do not go down to Egypt, but do as I tell you. Live here as a foreigner in this land, and I will be with you and bless you’ Gen.26:2-3a. The fact that Isaac got this word from God does not mean he did not encounter challenges along the way. About Isaac, the Bible says ‘he harvested a hundred times more grain than he planted, for the LORD blessed him’. However, this was not the end of the conflict Isaac faced. In fact Isaac faced conflict because God prospered him. People who love you and see the challenges you are facing will try their best to get you to ‘greener pastures’. It helps to tell your confidant what God has told you so that in the time of adversity they can help remind you. Have you already begun to prepare to relocate to ‘greener pastures’? It is time to remember what God has said. He is the same God yesterday, today and tomorrow and His word is ever potent. It is never too late to retrace your steps back to the promise God gave you. The problem a lot of us have is waiting. No one likes to wait. He is the God of the Heavens Armies, the One who knows and calls the stars by name. It is wisdom to wait on Him. Today, it may be difficult, but tomorrow you marvel at what God has done just because you decided to honour Him and wait on Him.

Prayer: Father, the Word says that Abraham believed You and it was counted to Him as righteousness. Teach me to believe Your spoken promises about my life and wait for it, in Jesus Name.
