A Holy Discontent I

‘He was the one who prayed to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and expand my territory! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!” And God granted him his request.’1 Chro.4:10

The man Jabez is an epitome of establishment. A classic example of how God can establish someone that is a no body. Perhaps you have been feeling like you are a no body. Then this message is for you. God is set to establish you in Jesus Name. There are four lessons we can learn from Jabez. The first thing that we can learn from Jabez is that he was discontent. The problem with a lot of us is that we are suffering and yet smiling. We have decided to manage even in the midst of storms in our lives. As long as you are comfortable, nothing changes in your life. For example, a child is growing up and beginning to show serious signs of being a rascal. Yet you do not take it to God. As the child grows, he starts to cause you pain here and there. Even that is not enough to drive you to your knees. But the day the boy brings out a knife you start to call on God. Sometimes we allow ourselves to be pushed to the wall and even at that sometimes we do not get discontent. Even with pregnant women, until the mother and the child get discontent nothing happens. ‘When Bartimaeus heard that Jesus of Nazareth was nearby, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!’ Mark 10:47. Bartimaeus was not the only blind man there that day. However, the difference was that he was discontent. And as soon as he found out that it was Jesus of Nazareth passing he shouted. ‘Be quiet!” many of the people yelled at him. But he only shouted louder, “Son of David, have mercy on me!’ Mark 10:48. Blindness is not enough to bring about discontentment. The fact that you are going through stuff is not enough to bring about discontentment. But Bartimaeus was discontent. I pray that God will give you a holy discontent with your situation. The reason we fast is because we are discontent with our present state either physical or spiritual. I pray that you will receive the holy discontentment that is required to birth what God wants to do in your life.

Prayer: Father, I ask for the holy discontentment that is required to birth the next level that You have for me, in Jesus Name.
