Ingathering
‘Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’ John 7:38
The feast of ingathering as it is known with the Jews is also known as the feast of tabernacle or the feast of booths. The physical meaning is gathering all the harvest of the agricultural year. Every harvest of the agricultural year that previously missed the sickle or shovel at the time of ingathering everything is brought in. And as this year is winding down I am praying that every harvest that is outstanding in your life, God will bring them in to you in Jesus Name. For some of us, ingathering would mean answers to long standing prayers. [Read Matt.5:17-18, Luke 24:44-45, Rom.10:1-4, Heb.8:6-13, John4:24, Col.2:14-18]. Jesus’ mission was to bring to a physical end these old covenants and celebrations. In Jesus, every sacrifice that God requires has been fulfilled. That is why we do not come with bulls and goats. Or have to do the seven major feasts of the Jews because everything has already been fulfilled in Jesus Christ. And in Him all the promises of God are ‘Yea and Amen’; we can benefit from the significance of these feasts in Christ. For instance, Pentecost is a feast of the Jews and in Christ you can have Pentecost every day. Over the next few days we would highlight three significances of ingathering and how it applies to us. Today we will examine some part of the first significance of ingathering.
The first significance of ingathering is Harvest. The first reason for this day of celebration is to end the harvesting of crops for that year. [Read Ex.23:16, Lev.23:39, Deut.16:13]. In applying this to us, it means that every outstanding blessing in our lives will be harvested this season in the Name of Jesus. God’s mind towards us as His people this season is harvest. An ingathering of every outstanding blessing, establishment, sweetness, fruitfulness, promotion, favour, fruits of the Spirit and so on will be harvested before this year ends.
Prayer: Father, let the angels of the Lord go forth and gather in for me all that You have released for me in this year and is still outstanding till now, in Jesus Name.
