Make Him Priority

‘The first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring into the house of the Lord they God’ Ex.23:19 [KJV]

What on earth are you making priority? A lot of times, we tend to make things that are not important and of no eternal value priority. ‘Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and He will give you everything you need’ Luke 12:31. God must come first in everything. He must be first in priority and first in sequence. A lot of times we have things labeled priority but such things are actually last on our list of priorities. For example, a man says his children are priority to him and he is probably not lying. Yet when you check the order of things on his schedule, his children are actually in last place. He attends to politics, business, to friends, parties, the extended family, his mother, and then finally his children. This is very similar to what we do when it comes to God. Our lips pronounce God as priority but our actions place Him last in sequence. You promise to spend time with God daily yet you give Him the time when you are almost dozing off. Whatever is actually priority to us must also come first in sequence. Take the principle of tithing for example. Priority is giving ten percent; yet priority in sequence is giving the first ten percent of your income to God. ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do and He will show you which path to take. Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil. Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones. Honour the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then He will fill your barns with grain and your vats will overflow with good wine’ Prov.3:5-10. This passage chronicles the benefits of making God priority. You cannot be wise in your own eyes and claim that God is priority. The reason a lot of people don’t hear from God is because they go to God with the answers they want to hear. If you want financial abundance then honor God with the first and the best of your fruit. This is what making God priority entails.

Prayer: Father, I pray for the grace to put You first in priority and first in sequence. That my plans will be based on Your direction. Help me build my life around You, in Jesus Name.
