The Law of Beginnings
‘Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin…’ Zec.4:10
It is God’s desire that we start from where we are and move to where He alone can take us. It is called the law of beginnings. Some people tend to ignore the beginning because they believe that the beginning does not determine the end. While this is true in some cases, it is also dangerous in many cases. There are some foundational things that must be sorted before starting any venture and this can only be done at the beginning. When it comes to marriage for example, one of the foundational things that needs be sorted out is communication. The reason why you find people who have been married for years and are still estranged to each other is because communication was not sorted out in the beginning. Some marriages are twenty years old but they have not even started yet. Similarly, some have been born again for many years but still don’t know how to hear from God. Why, because the things that had to be dealt with in the beginning were not addressed. Many of us need to take our relationships, businesses, and start again from the beginning. How do you start again? In marriages for instance, the Bible says ‘Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting for those who belong to the Lord’ Col.3:18. The wife who in the nineteenth year of marriage still refuses to submit to her husband must go back to year one of submission and start from there. God requires that we start from the beginning. What do you have in your hand? [Exo.4:2]. Start from there! Moses had only his rod, a stick but it was the major tool God used to save a whole nation. Anything that is hindering you from starting, God will take out of your life today in Jesus Name. Elijah asked the same thing of the widow. The widow had only a tiny flask of oil and God worked with what she had [2Kings.4:1-4]. God will always start with what you have. God has blessed you with everything that you need at every point in time. What you have might seem small and insignificant, God can and will bless it and He will use it for great things.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to humbly accept every beginning You bring me to and what I must do with that which You have put in my hands, in Jesus Name.
