How to be Spiritually Rich V

The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’ Matt.25:21

Lesson 4: The spiritually rich love Jesus. The spiritually rich person loves and trusts the Master for who He is. The spiritually poor person is suspicious of Jesus. ‘Then the servant with the one bag of silver came and said, ‘Master, I knew you were a harsh man, harvesting crops you didn’t plant and gathering crops you didn’t cultivate’ Matt.25:24. You cannot be suspicious of Jesus and be spiritually rich. It does not work because the Father, God, is the Father of all spirits. And Jesus says ‘I am the Way, I am the Truth and I am the Life; nobody comes to the Father except by Me’. You cannot do without Jesus. So I ask you, do you love Jesus? You can picture the man that had the five talents, when the master [representing Jesus] came back, how he ran to Him. How he loved him and said ‘I have added 5 more talents’ and he presented it to the master. Also picture how the one with one talent went about looking at the master spitefully from afar and thinking to himself. I don’t trust this master, he wants to use me to make money. For you to be spiritually rich, you must trust Jesus. The first servant gave Jesus the 10 talents. He could have said to Jesus take eight talents – like in the time of Ananias and Sapphira- You gave me five, I have made three more and then proceed to keep two for himself. Isn’t Jesus supposed to be happy? After all there is someone who did not make anything. This is how some of us relate with God when it comes to our lives. We presume that God should be happy with the 80% of our lives that we have offered to Him. Jesus deserves all. So those that will be spiritually rich must love Jesus. Loving Jesus means trusting Him completely even when you do not understand the task He has placed before you. From the story, you and I have this guarantee that He will reward us for faithfulness. ‘Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings’ Isa.3:10 [KJV].

Prayer: Lord Jesus, teach me to love You Lord even as You have loved me and given up Your life for me. Help me trust You completely at all times, through all seasons in Jesus Name.
