Two Are Better 1
‘Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed’ Ecc.4:9
God in His Word says ‘two are better than one’. No matter how big a tree is, no matter how deep its roots, and no matter how fruitful its branches are, one truth remains which is that one tree cannot make a forest. What this simply means is that we are made for relationships. We are made for connection. We are made to live life together. That is why I find it very strange for people to be in a church and not be in a life group [house fellowship]. If you are not part of a life group, join one today. If there is no life group meeting close to your house, then perhaps its time to think about starting one. The Bible in Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 enumerates the strengths of two. ‘Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed’. In other words you will go further faster with teamwork than with solo work. If you do stuff alone you can be successful but if you partner and get the right connections you will be more successful.
If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble’. In other words, you cannot sustain every situation by yourself. You need the help of those around you; the help of people who God has deliberately placed around you for times of trouble. This is why the Bible advises us not to ‘…forsake the fellowship of the brethren’. You cannot sustain the Christian walk alone. You need encouragement from others, you need to learn from their experiences, you need to see God through their eyes. ‘Two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone?’ Warm in this context refers to physical warmth. This is why I consistently pray for singles that desire to be married. You all will get married in Jesus Name. Every delay will be taken out of the way and you will be established in marriage, in Jesus Name.
Prayer: Father, I ask that in any area where I am lacking the strength of two, please lead me to my partner. Connect me to my helper today in Jesus Name.
