At The Son
‘But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture’ Mal.4:2
The eagle can gaze directly at the sun in its full strength and not go blind. When the eagle first comes out of its shell at birth two things happen. It’s mouth is open and its eyes are gazing directly at the sun. Based on that, during an attack the eagle is able to fly straight in the direction of the sun because no other creature can follow it. We too can gaze directly at the Son of God that takes away the sins of the world. The Bible says ‘But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture’ Mal.4:2. When we are under attack our response should be to fly in the direction of the Son Jesus, gazing directly at Him regardless of the attack. If the attack is marital look unto Jesus and it will fizzle away. Sometimes the attacks that people suffer are from the brethren and it can be the most difficult kind to navigate. Rather than focusing on the people, God is saying look unto Jesus [Heb.12:2].
Just as the eagle starts its early days by gazing directly at the sun, God wants us to teach our children to look directly at Jesus from the day they are born. Tell your children about Jesus, share your experiences of how God came through for you with them. Expose your children to the Son so that they too can depend on and look to Him from an early age.
The eagle seems to know when it is time to die, mostly if they do not die in battle. They leave their nest fly towards the rock facing the sun. They fasten their talons to the rock and they look straight at the setting or rising sun until death. Wow! How should a believer go? Pretty much the same way, put our feet on the Rock – the Word. Make sure your life is established on the Word and keep your gaze on Jesus. Like Stephen who said ‘behold I see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of glory’. All these attributes are to teach us vital lessons.
Thought: Make up your mind today to teach your children about Jesus and teach them practical ways to love and adore Him.
Prayer: Lord, teach me to keep my eyes on You in all that concerns me and my family and through every circumstance, in Jesus Name.
