‘Thou shall not follow a multitude to do evil…’ Ex.23:2[KJV]

Flocking is typical of the bird species. In fact there is a saying ‘birds of the same feather flock together’. Yet eagles do not flock. It is almost impossible to find five eagles flocking in the same direction. As an eagle believer, you must learn how to be alone with God. I acknowledge that there is a place for corporate prayer and a place for the family altar. However, it is important for you to have your own meeting place with God. There are things that God wants to say to only you, aspects of Himself He wants to reveal to you alone. Without your personal meeting place, you may never come into these experiences. Jesus consistently withdrew to be alone with God [Matt.14:23, Mark 1:35, Gen.32:24].

Most birds have what is called the crowd mentality. Once one chicken crosses the road, the others immediately cross the road also. This is why cars run over them because they do not even think about where they are going or why they are going in that direction. They just see the others going in that direction and they follow suit because they don’t want to be left out. That craving in you that just wants to follow the multitude is a chicken mentality and it has to die. The eagle on the other hand is comfortable to spread its own wings and chart its own course.

‘Thou shall not follow a multitude to do evil…’ Ex.23:2. People are quick to go off on a tangent because everybody is doing it. Your friend says to you ‘he loves you and wants to marry you. Good guys are scarce but God has blessed you with one. Everybody is doing it. God will understand. Sleep with him and secure your relationship’. If you are a chicken then you will do it. If you behave like a chicken you can only attract a chicken. You cannot behave like a chicken and claim you want to attract an eagle. If you want to attract an eagle, leave the chickens and go up higher. An eagle can spot another eagle 80km away. Don’t think separating yourself from the crowd puts you at a disadvantage; the eagle will spot you.

Prayer: Father, as I separate myself unto You, I ask that You will show me a token for good that people will testify of Your goodness and be encouraged to do same, in Jesus Name.
