Grow Relational Roots IV

“Love your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for He is kind to those who are unthankful and wicked’ Luke 6:35

Just be nice, as simple as that! This is the fifth step to growing relational roots. In 1Sam.30:10-20, David saw an Egyptian man that was sick and had been left to die for three days. At that time David had lost his wives, children, everything he had. So he should really have no time for such an Egyptian man but David chose to be nice. Gave the man food and nursed him back to health not knowing the man was the key to his restoration. It was that same Egyptian man that pointed David and his men in the right direction. There are people we are ignoring in our lives but they are the keys to our establishment. Be nice to them. For instance the people living next to you, be nice to them because you just never know. You are trusting God for a life partner, that person you refuse to greet everyday on your way to work may just be his cousin. He may eventually see you and be interested but his cousin will not have any good report about you. And what will happen? The cable is burnt; you have burnt a cable already, right there. Just be nice to everybody, you never know. I once met a man who was going through a difficult phase and as a result he could not pay his children’s school fees. I cannot even remember how much the school fees was, even though this man had not been particularly nice to me, I decided to help him out. By the next time I saw this man, God had changed his story completely, in less than 4 months. Guess what, this man gave me a gift of $6,000. I am not giving this illustration for any other reason but to drive home the fact that you need to be nice because you just never know. I did not help him because I knew that God would change his story. I just chose to be nice and it paid off. The point is this some of us are mistreating the people that could be of immense blessing to us down the line because we do not agree with them now. Then you go on your knees every night asking God for a solution. Meanwhile it is God who brought that person your way, the person you are now treating shabbily. It is simple, just be nice – love your neighbor as yourself.

Prayer: Father, I ask for the grace to love truly and be nice to everyone that comes my way. I ask for the grace to show Your love to all, in Jesus Name.
