Praise
‘So David and all the people of Israel brought up the Ark of the Lord with shouts of joy and the blowing of rams’ horns’ 2 Sam.6:15
I can testify to the miracles and the awesome things that happen when we praise God. At a particular worship experience, as we were praising God, shackles began to break. However, these are just byproducts. The real reason why we praise God is because we are grateful to Him. Why would David – a king, dance like a fool? There are a couple of reasons. Positionaly somebody must play the fool before the king in a procession, David said to himself ‘who is best suited than me to be the fool before the ark. Who is more qualified than me a shepherd boy that had been forgotten in the desert. Even when they did an election in my fathers house not only did I not win, I was not even considered a candidate’. Until you begin to think, you cannot begin to thank God. Gratitude cannot flow when you have a sense of entitlement. Rather gratitude begins when the sense of entitlement ends. When you feel God should have done this and that, you can never be grateful. But if you understand that if God were to leave you for one second you would be gone. But God has kept and protected you. The beauty of it all is you can guarantee that as we dance before the God of Heaven, He can make His entrance into our lives and our situations because He inhabits the praises of His people. As we forget about ourselves and focus on God then we will experience Jesus, the express image of the invisible God eroding our lives, penetrating impossible situations. And as He makes His entrance, the angels will speak to every gate before you. ‘Lift up your heads o ye gates and be ye lifted up ye everlasting doors and the King of glory shall come’. And if they dare ask ‘who is this king of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads o ye gates, even lift them up ye everlasting doors and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory’. I want to ask you to do something very foolish before God today, sing a non-scripted song to God and dance before Him for just a few minutes. God is worthy to be praised.
Prayer: Lord, I worship You; King of Glory, Lord of Hosts. May Your praise and worship never seize from my lips and household, in Jesus Name.
