Excel in Giving III
‘Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to’ Deut.15:10
Finally, God wants me to be generous because giving blesses me in return. ‘Generous people will be blessed…’ Prov.22:6 [NCV]. A lot of us wonder how come the people who seem to have keep getting more while those who seemingly don’t have don’t get at all. It is because the rich have learnt the heavenly principle of ‘give and it will come back to you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over…’. I often say that the door out of poverty is labeled ‘give’. It may seem like all that you have but when God leads you to give it you must realize it is because there is a blessing lined up for you in return. Let’s take our minds back to the boy who gave his lunch to Jesus. He may have given his all at that point but guess what, he was the only one who got to go back home with twelve baskets full. ‘Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to’ Deut.15:10. I honestly feel sorry for people that aren’t givers. In this life there are two types of people, the givers and the takers. Some people don’t tithe; they are always tithing next month. Have you met such people? Some are constantly promising God that they will restitute their tithe owed next month. The truth is tomorrow never comes. When next month comes they postpone to the month after. Giving blesses you in return. One of the most vivid lessons for my family has been the practicality of giving and receiving. My wife and I have seen that when you give, over the years God pumps us in return. Who won’t want that? Also let your children see you give and let them see the harvest that comes. It is a lesson that nobody can take from them. It is amazing that there are some people who can trust God for their salvation and eternity but cannot trust God with their money. More and more people can trust God with their lives but they cannot trust God with their money. Remember that all things come first from Him. He is the source of all that is. Giving blesses you in return not God!
Prayer: Lord, I ask for the wisdom to give generously and without a grudging heart. Lord, bless everything I put my hands and mind to do, in Jesus Name.
