To Protect
‘Then Peter came to himself and said, Now I know without a doubt that the Lord sent his angel and rescued me from Herod’s clutches and from everything the Jewish people were anticipating’ Acts 12:11 [NIV].
Angels protect us from danger. ‘Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared… He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. Quick get up! He said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists. Then the angel said to him, Put on your clothes and sandals. And Peter did so. Wrap your cloak around you and follow me, the angel told him’ Acts 12:7-8[NIV]. Every chain that has been placed on your hands and legs will fall off today. God will send His angels to rescue you from all forms of oppression today in Jesus Name.
How do we engage angels? There has been a lot of controversy in this area. One school of thought says that angels do not exist at all. The second school of thought says their existence is not our business so we are to ignore them. The third school of thought says there is a proper scriptural way to engage. And the fourth school of thought says you can send them around even for domestic errands. The first two and the fourth schools of thought in my opinion are extreme. The third one points to scripture and that is the one we will dwell on and learn from. In engaging angels, the first thing you have to know is that angels are not to be worshiped. ‘At this I fell at his feet and worship him. But he said to me, do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy’ Rev.19:10 [NIV]. The angel had shown John some things that John marveled at. Like I said to you if you see angels in their glory as they manifest the splendor that God has bestowed them, you will be speechless. And John responding naturally fell on his knees and was going to worship the angel. But the angel refused to allow it. A real angel of God will not accept worship from you. So when you go to places and you observe that they are engaging in angel worship know it is not scriptural. And the things they are worshipping are demons because an angel of God will not take the place of Jesus. The angel said ‘Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy’.
Prayer: Father, I thank You for creating such amazing beings as angels but I declare that You alone will forever be the focus of my worship, in Jesus Name.
