To Correct And Teach
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right’ 2 Tim.3:16
Today we will continue our discourse on relationships so as to learn what is wrong in our lives and let God’s Word teach us and equip us for good works even amidst our relationships. There are quite a number of Christians who are engaged, not married yet but have begun to sleep with their intended spouses. Some are just doing it, not ignorantly but because it seems everyone is doing it. Again it is important to know that not everyone is doing it, just those who are vocal about it and so it seems like it has become acceptable. Do not be deceived. ‘Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body’ 1 Cor.6:19-20. For those who are wondering how to get out of this situation, well, it means you have been hearing God’s Word and God has started working on you. However you need to seek counseling, go to your Pastor.
Some men want to know if it is scriptural to marry an older woman. I would say there is nothing in Scripture that suggests that it is wrong to marry an older woman. There is no place in Scripture that says there has to be specific age for a man or woman. Abraham was older than Sarah yet when he sent his servant out to get a wife for his son Isaac he specified several criteria but age was not one of them. So it is up to both of you. Its mind over matter, if you don’t mind then it doesn’t matter. But if you mind I will advice you not to try it because if you try it you will live with it for the rest of your life. Staying married requires being yielded to the Holy Spirit.
There are families where the children suspect one of their parents is looking at pornography. But they are afraid to confront it for fear of hurting the other parent. The truth is that it is already hurting the other parent so I would advice you bring it up. If he is not a Christian, maybe this is an opportunity to introduce Christ. And if he is maybe you want to help him stand. But bring it up and seek counsel if necessary.
Prayer [song]: Lord I give You my heart, I give You my soul. I live for You alone. Every breath that I take, every moment I’m awake, Lord have Your way in me’ Amen!
