Not Weakness
‘How blessed are the meek! for they will inherit their land’ Matt.5:5 [CJB]
Wikipedia.com defines meekness as power under control. Real meekness is power under control and not weakness. If you look at the root word for meekness in the Greek Prautes it means the middle point between two extremes – getting angry unreasonably [the Greek word orgulotes] and not getting angry at all [the Greek word aorgesia]. In other words, meekness is getting angry at the right time, in the right measure, and for the right reasons. The Word of God says, ‘be angry but do not sin’. In other words, you are not denying your emotions but you are able to put it under control. Some people would rather stay at one extreme refusing to confront anybody, or fight anybody, or face any issues, after all blessed are the meek. Or on the other extreme where they want everyone to know that being a Christian is not foolishness. They are determined to get an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. That is not meekness. Meekness is the middle point between both extremes that is getting angry at the right time, for the right reasons, and in the right measure.
God wants to give you the Promised Land but because of lack meekness, God cannot because it will destroy you. For some people the land that they desire of God is the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Sadly, the truth is, there are some wives or husbands that if God gives them the power that they desire they would have killed their spouses already. They can swing to one extreme and curse him/her and once that happens because of the power they possess that person is gone. God knows this and that is why He cannot give you that land yet. For some the land is prosperity or physical wealth but God knows that once they touch that power or financial wealth, they’ll begin to behave like serious rascals. For some people their desire is marriage but God loves you and He knows that if He gives you a wife right now, you’ll punch her to death and He also loves His daughter. So God tells you to wait, be patient, and grow in meekness because your meekness is tied to inheriting the land you desire.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, please teach me how to wait on God for my Promised Land and while I wait, Lord teach me patience and grow me in meekness, in Jesus Name.
