‘God blesses those people who depend only on him. They belong to the kingdom of heaven!’ Matt.5:3 [CEV].
Jesus says the resources of heaven are at the disposal of those who depend only on Him. You and I must understand that without God we are doomed. The strength of the helmet does not come from the head that it protects. The strength of the helmet comes from the material that the helmet is made of. Our confidence does not come from our ability or who we are. Our confidence comes from who our God is and the fact that He is able to do what eyes have never seen, what ears have never heard, and that which has not even begun to enter into the hearts of man. The trademark of the humble is gratitude. The humble has no sense of entitlement. That is why in God’s Favourite House we hold tightly to the culture of thanksgiving; a culture that propels us to deliberately come before God with thanksgiving. Why? Because the humble person does not feel entitled. Some people feel entitled so they spend most of their time telling God what should or should not have happened to them. They don’t understand that the fact that they even have a job is a miracle. It is the entitlement mentality that makes some people question God about the person they are married to. You need to know that the fact that you are married is a blessing. Let the voice of thanksgiving drown out the feeling of entitlement in your life. God is sovereign, He can do as He pleases and everything He does is in righteousness. All you are doing is finding faults with what you have been blessed with. Guess what, there are people out there who will give anything to be in your position right now. You do not compare what you have with what you want. Instead compare what you have with what you really deserve. When you realize that what you really deserve is the cross, you will appreciate Jesus’ sacrifice more. I look at my life and I know that I don’t deserve to stand before people and talk to them about God. So why won’t I be grateful for the privilege to preach Christ? Stand before God knowing you have not received what you really deserve. That’s the basis for gratitude!
Prayer: Father, thank You for not giving me what I deserve. Thank You for choosing to overlook my wrong and drawing me close to You. Thank You for the privilege to stand before Your throne and be called Your own, in Jesus Name.
