Better And Better

The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day’ Prov. 4:18

If you are striving to keep your marriage in the honeymoon stage then that is a red flag. Does this mean you do not expect better than your honeymoon? Someone that remains or insists on remaining in the honeymoon stage of his or her marriage will never grow. When you first give your life to Jesus you experience a honeymoon stage where even before you close your eyes your prayers have already been answered. Yet after some time it seems like God hides Himself. Does it mean that God loves you less? Certainly not! God wants you to grow and the more you grow in God the deeper you get to know God. The more you get to love God the deeper your relationship with God will be. So your honeymoon should be the beginning and not the end. Your marriage should keep getting better and better. If after five years of marriage, your best time is still your honeymoon then there is a problem. Your honeymoon should be the springboard for greater and juicier things to come. However, I agree that some marriages experience challenges and might need to go back to the honeymoon to rekindle the fire. But once things have been rekindled, God expects your marriage to grow and for you to strive to have a better time. Even though your marriage will face challenges, do not keep trying to go back to the honeymoon stage. Use the honeymoon as the least you will ever be with your spouse. Now am saying this by the grace of God as someone that had a honeymoon. But guess what we have had better days than our honeymoon by God’s grace. What will happen to people who do not have a honeymoon to fall back on? This is why you must strive for your marriage to become better and better because it is God’s desire. God wants you, your marriage, and your walk with Him to get better and better [Ecc.4:12b]. Don’t get stuck with the honeymoon. That’s why some people don’t grow in their marriages because they are always comparing. God wants to give you strong meat where you will grow through challenges and come out stronger with your spouse.

Prayer: Lord, let everyday in my marriage be as the first gleam of dawn and everyday after shine even brighter until my marriage enters its fullness, in Jesus Name.
