Be Submissive
‘And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord’ Eph.5:21-22
To be meek is to be submissive. Blessed are the submissive. The truth is that it is not only wives that are meant to be submissive to their husbands. Husbands are also supposed to be submissive to their wives. Now some men don’t like to hear this truth but God’s Word states ‘And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ’ Eph.5:21. God is actually saying to the husband and wife ‘submit one to another’, before He says wives submit to your husbands and husbands love your wives. Every one of us must learn the art of submission. You cannot submit if you are not meek. There are situations and seasons where my wife gets the direction right. When she gets the direction right, what do I do? I submit. Men tend to struggle with submission because they have held on so tightly to the notion that submission is for the woman alone. But God is stressing the need for submission one to another first. Perhaps this is the path God has chosen to take you through in other to groom you for where He is taking you. Accepting to submit is breakthrough for some today.
I don’t know what you are going through in this season of your life but I want to encourage you. I don’t know what you are going through but the Word of God to you this season is blessed are the meek, blessed are the mild, blessed are the patient, and blessed are the long suffering. If you are one of those who is currently experiencing challenges in your marriage, God is stressing patience – be patient. Some of us are going through a tough time in our academics yet God is saying be patient. For blessed are the patient, blessed are the mild, and blessed are those that suffer long.
Erroneously, the nature of meekness has been misjudged as weakness because it encourages us to take the back seat and so we come across as seemingly docile or malleable. A lot of us don’t want to be meek because we don’t want anybody to take us for granted. So why would Jesus instruct us to be meek? The truth is that real meekness is not weakness. Real meekness is power under control.
Prayer: Father, help me to be submissive in my marriage and in my other relationships, in Jesus Name.
