Prioritize Hunger!
‘Is any one thirsty? Come and drink-even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine or milk-it’s all free!’ Isa.55:1.
Come and drink-even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine or milk-it’s all free! Who is to come? You are! Yet the challenge with a lot of us, the reason why we don’t get this hunger fed and our thirst filled is because we do not understand the priority of hunger. My grand mother would say, ‘if hunger enters a man, nothing else can enter the man’. So hunger must be attended to. Jesus says, ‘seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness’ Matt.6:33. He did not say seek only, or seek second, He did not say seek when you have the time, Jesus said seek first. A lot of us are not getting spiritual fulfillment in life, as we ought, because we are not treating it as priority. Some say to God I will attend to You later, my life is miserable but I cannot give my life to Jesus now. I know I need to come back to God but I cannot afford it now. I need to be part of a life group, I know it is good for me; I’ll have people praying with me and for me. I’ll have people I am praying for and I’ll have people caring for me but the premiership season has started so I have no time. When God becomes your priority, spiritual fulfillment becomes reality and until God becomes your priority spiritual fulfillment remains a mirage. Maybe you used to experience this fountain of living waters but as it is right now you cannot really connect to God. Your story is like the psalmist that says ‘my heart is breaking as I remember how it used to be: I walked among the crowds of worshippers, leading a great procession to the house of God, singing for joy and giving thanks amid the sound of great celebration!’ Ps.42:4. If for you, your story is that you can remember how it used to be with God, lift up your hands and ask God to fill you afresh – cry out to Him from your heart! Cry out for the fountain of living waters. Or perhaps you are saved but you have not made seeking God your priority. You need to attend to this hunger now – stand on your two feet and open your hands to God. Ask God to fill you and tell Him that you are making Him priority because I have put you off long enough.
Prayer [song]: Fill my cup Lord, I lift it up Lord. Come and quench this thirst in my soul. Bread of heaven fill me till I want no more. Fill my cup I lift it up and make me whole. Amen.
