Peace Within

‘For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago’ Eph.2:10

The third kind of peace that God wants us to pursue is internal peace. The reason why wars continue in our homes and in our relationships is because if our vertical peace is unstable then we have issues with our relationships. Secondly, it is impossible to have peace without when there is war within. So if the person you are in a relationship with consistently hurts you, you may want to check if the person is at peace with himself/herself. If they hate themselves, they cannot love you because they cannot give what they do not have. It is said that hurting people hurt people because it is flowing from the abundance of their frustration. So the vertical must be in place, the internal must be sorted out, and then the horizontal will fall in place.

A major key to achieving internal peace is knowing who you are. The reason why a lot of people cannot love themselves is because they don’t even know who they are. There is confusion within. If you do not know who you are, you would have a problem. You need to know that you are not what you wear. Some people are so confused, if they are not carrying a Louis Vuitton bag, or wearing Gucci sunglasses, or an Armani suit then they have lost their identity totally. Such people are defined by what they wear and they do not feel confident otherwise. Someone said to me that he comes around my office and he sees me wearing a T-shirt and jeans and he likes my approach to things. I asked if the power of the Holy Ghost needed to check if I was wearing a suit first before it flows? Many of us worry ourselves too much about how people will perceive us. The truth remains that the people that really matter in your life do not mind and the people that mind do not matter. If you shape your life with the people that mind that really don’t matter you would be unhappy with yourself because what you are getting is not who you are. You are not what you wear. Be honest with yourself today, do you really know who you are? Of have you formed a persona based on external factors that God has not named after you?
