Object Of Affection

‘No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money’ Matt.6:24.

Jesus is saying when it comes to service you have to choose between God and money. A lot of people are serving money. And a lot of people are only serving God because of money. So who are they serving? A lot of people will only come to church because that breakthrough came through. They will only move close to God because there is a potential financial increase. They will come to church because the church has a reputation for power services. Their intention is to use God to get money. Who are you serving? Jesus is clear; you cannot serve two masters. If you can take time out to set these foundational things right in your life, money will never be a problem for you again. Choose whom you will serve this day.

My grandmother would say don’t let the desire to eat meat cause you to call the cow master [translated]. Some people will take crap from people just because of money. Then who is your God? Jesus is saying you cannot serve God and money. You will love one and hate the other. You can only be devoted to one. There is only one object that can take your devotion. Believe it or not there are people negotiating with God about fornication because of what they hope to get out of it. If you sleep with him for the money to get a new car, then who is your God? Jesus is saying you cannot serve God and money, so choose one. Who do you choose? ‘The blessings of the Lord makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it’ Prov.10:22. When you are blessed you will be rich. The blessing is a spiritual thing. So if you can secure God’s blessing, money cannot and will not be a problem for you. Everyone that has received God’s blessing becomes prosperous – Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and even Ishmael was prosperous. If you understand this, you will not fear a single man on earth. The reason why people fear men is because they don’t know God. They can carry the biggest Bible but they don’t know God because ‘they that know their God shall be strong and do exploits’. Money is spiritual and not merely physical.

Prayer: Father, I thank You that in Christ I am reconnected with the blessings of Abraham. Let my life reflect this blessedness, in Jesus Name.
