Attuned To Jesus

‘‘Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and Son and the Holy Spirit” Matt.28:18-19.

Today, we will start with a thinking exercise. Think, who are the people that are close to you but far from God? You know them, you meet them at work, or in your house, or in the market place, and some even attend the same church with you but you know they are far from God. They are close to you but far from God. Think about them, who are they? Those are the people that Jesus has sent you to. True evangelism is being attuned to Jesus in your relationships. If Jesus tells you to give someone a book, you obediently give the person the book. When Jesus says encourage the person in this area, you encourage the person in that area. If Jesus says it is time to ask him/her if he/she really wants to surrender to Me. You ask him/her if they really want to surrender to Jesus. When Jesus prompts you to keep quiet because you are talking too much, you keep quiet. True evangelism is following the promptings of Jesus. He has said it is His job but He will empower us to do it. ‘Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!”Matt 4:19. Think about it this way, many of us want to hang out with people that are the names to be reckoned with in our area of interest. Jesus is saying, ‘hang out with Me and I will make you fishers for men. Follow me on twitter, be my friend on Facebook and I will make you fishers of men’ [translated]. We are just going to hang out with Jesus this Easter season and let Him unpack the importance of breaking the ice. And by the time He is done, evangelism will be as easy and as necessary as breathing is to us, in Jesus Name. We would be so infectious that we would win our communities for Jesus, and I mean that literally. I need you to think of three people today, people that are close to you but far from God. Feel free to expand the list but please think about at least three people close to you but far from Jesus. Now take it a step further, write those names down and bring the list to your time with God everyday this Easter season. Every Christian has a story and that story God can use. We will learn how as we go on in this season.

Prayer: Father, let Your will be done in my life and in the lives of those You have placed around me at home, in church, and at work, in Jesus Name.
