You Are The Light

‘You are the light of the world– like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden’ Matt.5:14

The greatest gift we can give people that are close to us but far from God, is the gift of an introduction to God. The creator of the heavens and the earth that made them, loves them, and has a purpose for them. Every believer regardless of his/her vocation is called to introduce people to Jesus. The beauty and the danger of it is the fact that you may be only one conversation away from changing the eternal destiny of someone. God is expecting and relying on you and I to break the ice. In light of that, it is important to learn how to break the ice. How does God expect us to break the ice? Learn how to break the ice, be equipped and empowered to break the ice because regardless of your calling or my calling, the ultimate purpose of your destiny and mine is to help people find God. Not all of us are called to be Pastors or Evangelists, but whatever your calling is, the ultimate purpose of your destiny is to help people find God. ‘”You are the salt of the earth. But what good is the salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. You are the light of the world – like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden’ Matt.5:13-14. Light illuminates dark areas. Jesus is saying your purpose; your destiny is to bring light into darkness. ‘But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: in whom the god of this world hath blinded their minds…2 Cor.4:3-4. Anyone whose eyes are blind is living in darkness. Jesus is saying, you are the light of the world. Declare it out loud, ‘I am the light of the world’. Now this may sound very up in the sky – a big picture statement. So I will help you relate to it better. It simply means that the people that are close to you but far from God are living in darkness no matter how nice they are and you are their light. You are to bring light into their darkness. But unfortunately, a lot of us are too preoccupied with our own issues – our desire to get a car, house, get married. We are preoccupied with fighting battles and the activity or proximity of the enemy. All the powers of darkness put together are no match for Jesus. You are the light, not a light, but the light.

Prayer: Father, help me fulfill the ultimate call upon my life this season. I am the light of the world and my light will lead people to Jesus , in Jesus Name.
