Purpose of Promotion

‘When Simon Peter realized what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said, “Oh, Lord, please leave me—I’m too much of a sinner to be around you.”  For he was awestruck by the number of fish they had…’ Luke 5:8-9

Yesterday, we examined the Peter’s response to Jesus’ question – is it going to be about fishing for fish or fishing for men? Today we are going to examine the Luke response. Luke was a medical doctor when he met Jesus. After he met with Jesus, Luke remained a medical doctor. In other words, if he was a fisherman he remained a fisherman. But with Luke, it was not about the fish anymore. It was not about the trade anymore; it was about using that trade to help people connect to Jesus. So if you are a professional, a business person, or a teacher, the question to you is what is it going to be for you? Are you going to invest your life just chasing money or are you going to invest your life into changing destinies? If you choose to keep on fishing and maybe God’s will is for you to remain a fisherman; but you see, it will not be about the fish anymore. It will be about leveraging the fish you have caught for a greater purpose. It will be about using the small fish that Jesus has given you to catch the big fish. I hope that makes sense to you. What will it be? You can fish for fish or you can fish for men. Many people are struggling in their businesses because perhaps God wants them to answer this singular question. Before you move forward, God wants you to answer this question now – what will it be? Think about a figure, the figure that you are confident will transition you into the class of the wealthy. Think about it, what will that figure be? Do you have the figure now? It is important you have the figure because of what I want to say next. I pray in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth that the figure will become a financial reality for you. Now my question is – then what? For some that is when they will suddenly see that their wife’s stomach is growing too big. So you did not know the stomach was big before or is that the purpose of the promotion? After you get the promotion, then what? – you need to answer. In fact, the way God works, it is how you are faithful in little that more will be added.

Prayer: Father, in the Name of Jesus, I’ll not store up treasure on earth where termites can easily destroy it. Rather I’ll store up treasure in heaven, in Jesus Name.
