Get Comfortable

Jacob loved Joseph more than any of his other children because Joseph had been born to him in his old age. So one day Jacob had a special gift made for Joseph—a beautiful robe’ Gen.37:3.

God’s word to us this morning is ‘Dare to dream again’. For some of us this word translates to ‘dare to dream at all’. But for some of us it is ‘dare to dream again’. ‘Jacob loved Joseph more than any of his other children because Joseph had been born to him in his old age… But his brothers hated Joseph because their father loved him more than the rest of them. They couldn’t say a kind word to him.Gen.37:3-4. His brothers hated him so much they could not say a kind word to him. What was Joseph’s sin? His father favoured him. For those of us that have many children, one of the easiest ways to get your children to kill themselves is to single out one and call him/her your favourite. That is the fastest route to sibling rivalry and slaughter. We are human beings made in the image of God; we would inevitably prefer one to the others. You will be tilted to one child more than the others but it is wisdom for you to keep a level playing field. It is wisdom because not all your children are mature enough emotionally to handle seeing you favour one over all. As a mother, you have to ensure that all your children have an equal playing field with you. It is possible that you will have a favourite but you have to ensure that you are always fair.. Mothers are quick to claim that they do not have a favourite but one thing that is common is  all the other children can tell you who their mother’s favourite is. The truth is that favour is not fair because the reason for being a favourite is totally subjective. The father/mother may not even know why. Favour is not fair. If it is fair then it is not favour. And I am convinced that God has chosen to favour you this year and beyond in Jesus Name. So don’t expect it to be fair, you have to be comfortable with it. For some of us God is delivering something to us and we are convincing God that He should give it to someone else. How can you be telling God that He is favouring you too much? For us as a church we believe that if God, the Most High God that can be in every place at any time were to choose one place to worship on a Sunday morning it will be in God’s Favourite House. And guess what, it is not our fault because we are called God’s favourite house for a purpose.

Prayer: Father, help me totally accept Your decision to favour me instead of seeking to understand it, in Jesus Name.
