Focused Desire

‘As the deer pants for the water brooks,
So pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When shall I come and appear before God?’ Ps.42:1-2 [NKJV].

Pursue intimacy with God regardless of where you are. Pursue intimacy with God. God said concerning David, “I have found a man after My heart”. What will God say about you? God said to Samuel, “I have found a man that is passionately in love with Me”. Sadly, a lot of people just want to use God because we have heard that the people that are God’s friends, they do things and they get away with it. They say to God ‘I am your friend’ so that I can do things and they get away with it.. God cannot be mocked. How do you know you are God’s friend? It is simple; you know that you are God’s friend when how God feels about something is important to you. People say A is not a sin, it is not an issue whether it is a sin or not, the issue is will God be happy with me if I do this. Instead people will pressure you to show them in the Bible where it says they should not smoke. I may not be able to show you in the Bible but is God happy with you? David became a friend of God. The question to you is, does that really matter to you? Do you want to become a friend of God? Do you really want to become a friend of God? It is a question you need to ask yourself and answer. Some people are indifferent, friend of God why? But I believe most of us really want to become friends of God. And there are levels of relationships with God. The ultimate is to be His friend. The first level is to be a bondservant. The second level is to be a servant.  Then third level is to be child, an heir of God. The fourth level is to be a son. Not every child is a son. You can be an heir and you can be a son, you are not entitled – you don’t enter into the inheritance. But not every son is a friend. ‘What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him?’ Ps.8:4 [NKJV].“Who am I that you are mindful of me that you hear me when I call?” Do you know this song? You see friendship with God cannot be commanded. You cannot command that you are a friend of God and so shall it be. Let today’s devotional leave you with a hunger to pursue real friendship with God.
