Beloved Not Bastard

‘…Who ever heard of a child who is never disciplined by its father? If God doesn’t discipline you as he does all of his children, it means that you are illegitimate and are not really his children at all’ Heb.12:7-8.

When God has chosen to favour you, expect a certain level of responsibility. It simply means that what others do and get away with, you cannot do and get away with the same thing. I know Pastors that do certain things and they go away with it but if I try it I’m dead, as in literally dead. I realize that the reason that life is not for me is because God has said, “I have chosen to favour you”. I can show you my scars – “rod and the staff”. Everyone that is favoured of God can show you his or her scars. David can show you his scars. If you are doing something and God is not dealing with you then go to God and ask Him what you have done. Plead with the Lord not to abandon you, His child. Honestly because the Bible says that if He doesn’t chastise you then it means you are a bastard.

The first reason why David almost lost this battle is; it was the most difficult battle for him and it was God’s discipline. The second reason is; The most difficult battle anyone can fight is a battle against your flesh and your blood, either physically or spiritually. The greatest battle a spiritual father can fight is against his spiritual son or daughter. It is the most devastating of battles. While David was running from Absalom, Shimei one of the descendants of Saul in the house of Saul saw David and rained abuses on him. One of David’s soldiers asked David for permission to cutoff his head and stop the wagging tongue. Many of us would have been angry at Shimei but David’s heart was focused on something else. David said, “let him abuse me maybe God will see the insult and have mercy on me” [See 2 Sam.16:12]. David! What David was saying in essence was, “let the abuses come, I will take them to God and as part of my plea for mercy”. Don’t focus on those mocking you for your commitment to God, use the abuse to gain grounds with God. Some of us are ashamed of the gospel because people are using the same gospel to mock us. Instead of being ashamed, turn it around as a weapon of victory. David turned it around, he said to them “maybe God will look at me and have mercy”.

Prayer: Father, I ask that You show me a token for good and let all who have laughed at me and asked where is my God be suddenly ashamed, in Jesus Name.
