Go Ahead And Ask

Again David asked, “Will the leaders of Keilah betray me and my men to Saul?” And the Lord replied, “Yes, they will betray you.” 1Sam.23:12

The final thing in enquiring from the Lord is just go ahead and ask. Don’t be afraid just ask. Don’t miss this because it is the key in enquiring from the Lord. The easiest way is to ask simple questions. Ask a question that will have a yes or no answer – or a green light or a red light. David says, “should I pursue or should I stay?” Yes or No answer. David says, “will they betray me or will they be loyal to me?” Yes or No answer. David says, “should I go after the philistines or should I not go?” Yes or No answer. People would go to God and say, “God you need to explain to me why in my own family I am the only one that XYZ will happen to. Speak Lord, Pastor said we should enquire of the Lord”. If God were to really answer, He may just have to carry you to heaven. It may be too deep for you to understand or grapple. Ask God simple questions. I have shared severally in my walk with God how when I meet someone and shake the person’s hands, I ask the Holy Spirit “who is this person?” And He says this person is this or that. He always answers. I can only give you what I know, right? In my own case, He always answers. Sometimes He doesn’t answer immediately. When He doesn’t answer just wait, eventually the answer will come. Even though he may not answer immediately but He always answers. And when He does not answer at all, you already know the answer. I know some of us reading this today find it scary or spooky even. “Are you saying I should close my eyes and ask God a question?” Yes. “But what of He answers?” That is precisely why I am encouraging you to ask because I want Him to answer you. You start with yes, no, move, stop, speak, and don’t speak, right? It will change your life because even when you don’t ask God, God can tell you things. David asks, ‘should I go to Judah’, God replied, ‘go to Judah’. That was yes or no right? David asked again ‘where in Judah?’ God replied, ‘Hebron’ [2Sam.2:1]. God can actually then take it further and give you other answers but start with yes or no answers. ‘And again David asked the Lord what to do. “Do not attack them straight on,” the Lord replied. “Instead, circle around behind and attack them near the poplar trees’ 2Sam.5:23.
