Fact

‘And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life—this is indeed a gift from God’ Ecc.5:19.

The fact is you are rich so stop saying that you have nothing. If you earn fifty thousand naira monthly, you are among the top 21% richest people in the world. There are 6.7 billion people in the world so you are richer than 5 billion people. You are rich! For you perhaps, fifty thousand is what your husband gives you as your weekly allowance and you are complaining. God will forgive you. Say amen. The truth is you are also actually rich according to the Word of God. ‘You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich’ 2 Cor.8:9. When I read this Scripture some time ago, I was convinced that God must have been talking about spiritual riches. Then I read the same Scripture in different translations and the word ‘rich’ means rich and ‘poor’ means poor. As far as provision is concerned, Jesus already paid the price for us to be rich. ‘All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ’ Eph.1:3. So the fact and truth is you are rich!

The question is why don’t you feel rich? It is simple; you don’t feel rich because you do not even know that you are rich. I will illustrate; this is a personal experience also. Imagine you have a bank account where you’ve just been storing away cash over a period of time without thinking. Time passes and you totally forget about it. Then a turn of events leaves you very broke, as in capital BROKE. And when you are broke, you tend to feel vulnerable and exposed. The Bible says money is a defense, trust me it’s a defense. You will find yourself thinking a lot and if care is not taken you can eventually battle with depression. And for me I began to quote Scripture to battle depression. “I’m rich because the Word of God says I’m rich”. Then it occurred to me to check that account. I saw how much was in it and suddenly all my emotions changed. I walked into the bank with confidence. Was the account not mine all along? Did the money just appear there? No! So why didn’t I feel rich? I didn’t know. Let me tell you something, you are loaded in Christ Jesus. You are! There is nothing you will need on earth that has not been provided for. Nothing! A lot of the time, we don’t feel rich because we don’t know that we are rich – we are totally ignorant!

Prayer [song]: Give thanks with a grateful heart. Give thanks to the Holy One. Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ His Son. And now let the weak say I am strong, let the poor say I am rich because of what the Lord has done for us, give thanks.
