Deceitfulness Of Riches
‘You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, so that by His poverty He could make you rich’ 2Cor.8:9
Our focus is not on how to get rich because by the grace of God Jesus has paid the price. You are rich! The focus is on how to Be rich. If you don’t learn how to FEEL rich you will never learn how to ACT rich so you continue to struggle to GET rich…and you will never realize that you already ARE rich and you never learn how to BE rich. If you don’t learn how to feel rich, how to be grateful for what God has blessed you with. If you don’t learn how to live in that abundance of gratitude of heart that is overflowing, you will not learn how to act rich. Your attitude will be rotten, your actions will be at variants, and then you will continue to struggle to get rich. And you will never realize that you already are rich so you never learn to be rich.
‘Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment’ 1Tim.6:17. I am rich and I am grateful. God gives us riches for our enjoyment. God is blessing you so that you can have a good life but God is saying don’t depend on it. So say this aloud: “God has blessed me with more than I need, I am grateful, I am rich but I will not trust in riches, but on Him who richly provides for me”. It is because riches are deceitful. Wealth promises what it cannot deliver. Wealth promises a good marriage but wealth cannot deliver a good marriage. You think that it is only when you have more money that your marriage will be better. Guess what, you have been deceived. Now your arguments might be only about money. But guess what, when money is no longer an issue, you will look for something else to argue about. Money promises what it cannot deliver. Money promises happiness and joy. While money can deliver instant happiness, money cannot deliver consistent happiness, which is like joy. Money cannot deliver joy. While money promises to deliver peace of mind, money cannot deliver peace of mind. There are many people that have money and their minds are in turmoil. Money cannot deliver peace of mind, so it is deceitful. God blesses us with money but God is saying to be careful because money is deceitful. More money does not equal more respect, that is just the deception of riches.
Prayer: Father, please help me to acknowledge You daily as my Source, in Jesus Name.
