Be Rich Towards God

‘Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be’ Matt.6:21

Research shows that Jesus spoke more about money than He spoke about heaven. Have you ever wondered why Jesus would speak more about money than He spoke about heaven? It is not because money is more important than heaven. The reason Jesus did this is revealed in this Scripture, ‘“No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money’ Matt.6:24. Jesus did not say you cannot serve God and satan because Jesus knows that for most people in their right senses, satan is not desirable. Jesus said you cannot serve God and money because money is the number one thing that rivals God in our hearts [more than satan]. If God can deliver your heart from the love of money, God would have delivered your soul from hell.

Jesus spoke that much about money because it has the propensity to hold our hearts captive. And I am praying today that every heart that has been held captive by money, God will set totally free in the Mighty Name of Jesus. God wants you and He also wants you to be free. The reason why a lot of us fall into the deceitful trap of riches is because of how we are wired. For instance, I discovered a long time ago that the saying “it is not in the winning but in the participation” is a lie. If it’s just in the participation then how come not everybody gets first price? In my first year in secondary school, I was on the team that won in a sporting event. And I saw respect on peoples faces that day after the race and the next day in class. People looked at me differently and I thought to myself, this is how it is meant to be. People have this same attitude towards money because to the world money is largely the benchmark for success. So inevitably people begin to chase money and money becomes their God. That which you chase after is where your affection lies. If a man loves a woman he would chase her. If a man wants to marry you and doesn’t chase you, then he doesn’t love you. Men are designed to chase. He is not the man for you; God will provide your own husband for you. Pursuit is the proof of desire someone said. You don’t love your wife if you don’t chase her. And God wants you to chase Him because where your treasure is there your heart will be also.
