Lesson One
‘You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God’ 2 Cor.9:11 [NIV].
The All-Powerful God became helpless, at the “mercy” of Joseph and Mary, the amateur parents. Secondly, God came as a human being because man messed up and man had to fix it up. God became a human being because it will take man to put straight what man messed up. Christmas is such a big deal because of the relevance of Christmas. Christ, God came to earth and became a man. The Bible puts it this way; ‘For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin’ Heb.4:15 [NKJV]. Jesus understands the pressure you are going through. Jesus understands what it means to be harassed by demons, to be tempted by the devil. But He overcame and you will overcome in Jesus Name. The relevance of Christmas is that God came to earth to become a man, not a superior being, just a man.
Christmas is a big deal because of the reason for Christmas. The reason for Christmas is God came for you! You need to pause and let that sink in. Say aloud, God came for me. In the first two years of secondary school, I went to boarding school. In that school, everything was military style and it was like torture for us. So we always looked forward to the visiting day. Visiting day is the day our parents come to see us and bring provisions and refreshments. It felt like those provisions were from heaven. However, as a student in boarding school you get to experience one or more visiting days where no one comes to visit you. It is always a rush of emotions because of your expectations. So while everyone else is celebrating their new supplies, you usually would be alone and alarmed by the fact that no one came to visit. You would typically feel lonely, abandoned, and rejected. But the key thing here is these are the very same feelings a lot of people are struggling with consistently. Guess what, the truth is Jesus came for you. You don’t need to stand wondering at this visiting day, so to speak, because Jesus came for you.
Prayer: Father, teach me to intentionally set aside something to give daily, in Jesus Name.
