Is He God?

“Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God” Psalm 90:2 [NKJV].

There was never a time when Jesus did not exist and there will never be a time when Jesus won’t exist. It is so important that we understand this because this is really what separates our faith in Christ as believers from every other faith. There is undeniable proof that Jesus lived on earth. A lot of people will not argue with that. They will agree that Jesus came, that He was very wise, and that He was a moral teacher. But where a lot of people stumble and fall, is the thing about God –is He God? It is at this point that you hear people make statements like, ‘He is not the Son of God’ and ‘When did God have a Son?’ Sound familiar? It is because they do not understand that Jesus is Alpha and Omega. Jesus never minced words about His eternal existence; He never left that to chance. He was clear about it.

Please read the entire John 8. “Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “if you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” John 8:31-32 [NKJV]. For a Jew, this statement is an insult, so immediately they revolted. “We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You cay, ‘You will be made free’?” John 8:33 [NKJV]. In other words, what they were saying is “Jesus, how can you say ‘your’ truth will set us free?” To those who claim they want to follow Jesus but want to come with their own theology, Jesus says he that sins is a slave to sin. If you were Abraham’s children, you will listen to what I’m saying. Again they protested but Jesus continued—‘Abraham loved to see my day, he saw it and he rejoiced”. And they said to Him- you are not even up to fifty and you are saying Abraham, our father, rejoiced to see your day? Who are you? He says exactly, if you were from God, you will listen to Me but because you are not of God you will not listen to me. Are you saying that you are greater than Abraham? Jesus said before Abraham was, I Am. So the Jews concluded that He had a demon. How can He say He existed before Abraham, He made Abraham? For the Jew, Abraham was the father of their lineage, which is true, biologically. But Jesus said, I made and chose Abraham, if you will listen to Abraham, you will listen to me. And they said no, why would we listen to you? Moses is our teacher, Abraham is our father. Jesus said no, you are of your father, the devil, because he was a liar from the beginning and his alphabets are lies. Jesus was always clear to everyone that cared to listen, that He was God, He is God, and He will continue to be God.

Prayer: Jesus, I acknowledge that You are God. Before the mountains were brought forth, before You formed the earth, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God. Amen!
