Who Is…
“Therefore, God elevated Him to the place of highest honor and gave Him the name above all other names” Phil.2:9
“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in the heaven and on the earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” Phil.2:10-11. Back in the day, Sunday was evangelism time for my wife and I; this was even before we became Pastors. After church, we would visit our friends that don’t know Jesus just to win them to Christ. On one of such days, we picked a friend of mine who is deep into the occult [astral travel and all those things]. While we were there a conversation started and he began to argue about Jesus. He was saying so many things but when he said that Buddha, Mohammed, and Jesus are all great teachers, something on the inside of me began to turn. I became agitated and I told him to stop it immediately. Do not ever place Jesus on the same pedestal with Buddha or Mohammed or Krishna. My wife was trying to get me to calm down, she could see that I was getting worked up because I couldn’t take it. For some people, they wouldn’t bother if you abuse them but if you abuse their mother, they would not take it. For me, say whatever you like but don’t abuse my Jesus. So I said to him, ‘You do soul travel? Why is it that at the mention of the Name of Jesus every knee bows? You know that don’t you?’ He agreed and said it is because Jesus has risen above… He is a greater master. I said in fact right now I want to prove to you that Jesus is alive. At that point I was not sure whether to say ‘Father smite him with blindness’ or ‘make his right hand paralyzed’. Some people need to see God’s power otherwise they won’t believe. But at this point, my wife prevailed on me. So I apologized to him for being brash. The truth is, we were there to represent the love of God not to fight world war three. That was years ago, I wouldn’t do that now. The point is this, if you abuse Jesus, He is able to fight for Himself. I can tell you about Jesus but I won’t fight for Him.
Jesus is I Am! I am Alpha and Omega, the One who is. A lot of people accept Jesus as the Alpha and they accept Him as the Omega. They know that He is the God of the past and the God of the future, but they struggle with the Jesus of the now. They struggle with the resurrected Christ [Rev.1:8]. He is I Am – the God of now! When Moses asked the Lord who he should say sent him, the Lord answered, “tell them I AM that I AM sent you”. You see, Jesus is not just the God that was [the I was that I was]; He is not just the God that will be [the I will be that will be]; He is the God that is. He is the I Am and that is very comforting.
Prayer [song]: Behold Him there the risen Lamb, My perfect spotless righteousness, The great unchangeable I AM, The King of glory and of grace. One in Himself I cannot die. My soul is purchased by His blood My life is hid with Christ on high, With Christ my Savior and my God!
