Truth Revealed

“His father said to him, ‘Look, dear son, you have always stayed by me, and everything I have is yours. We had to celebrate this happy day. For your brother was dead and has come back to life! He was lost, but now he is found!” Luke 15:31-32.

You need to understand the truth shown to the older son, “His father said to him, ‘Look, dear son, you have always stayed by me, and everything I have is yours” Luke 15:31. What the father was saying in essence is that, everything I have even the fattened cow that was killed is yours. In other words, your brother pretty much doesn’t have anything left and that is why we should be nice to him – truth! And that is the truth that can make the older son relate with the younger son without him feeling bad because he knows that he is settled. It is this truth that will make the older son willing to share his inheritance.

So based on this analysis, am I saying it is impossible to be restored once you fall? That is not what I am saying. Restoration is possible; you have just seen that displayed in the story in Luke 15. However, the truth remains that sometimes what is lost is lost. The woman that was caught in adultery, assuming the man she was having adultery with had HIV. And Jesus said you have been forgiven, sin no more. What will happen to the HIV? You bear some scars. I was at a conference where someone directed this question at Dr. Mensah Otabil. The person was trying to say the church doesn’t show love and grace. He asked, ‘why is it that when men of God fall, the church does not help them back up?’ And Dr. Mensah Otabil said, “whether you recover as a leader or not depends on how high you were when you fell. If your height is as high as a raised platform and you fall, you probably will get up, climb back up, and continue to do whatever it is that you were doing. But if you are on a thirty-five story building and you fall, then it is good bye”. And immediately he said that, everybody got it. If you want to keep falling and getting up, then stay on the low level; but I am going higher yes I am [song]. For some of us that have decided to go higher and higher, what does that mean? You cannot even try to fall, there will be no recovery – it is gone. And historically, if you check even in the secular world, such leaders never fully recovered and that is the truth. It is a wise saying that “they that stay in glass houses should not throw stones” but guess what?- that is the truth. You want to come up higher, drop all the compromises and receive the grace of God. The real grace of God that can help you stand, and walk, and run, and mount up with eagles, and soar in the Name of Jesus.

Prayer: Father, even as You take me higher in You, I receive the grace to stand, walk, run, mount up with eagles, and soar, in Jesus Name.
