Walking In Purity

‘So be very careful to love the Lord your God’ Josh.23:11

“Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world” James 4:8. God is extending a relationship invitation to you. But you will notice that He immediately says wash your hands, you sinners. It is a strange thing to talk about the Gospel without talking about sin. A lot of people don’t want to talk about sin these days. But you see, when you talk about God, you have to immediately talk about sin. It is in the scripture and this is new for those people who will say sin talk ended in the Old Testament. You need to talk about sin because the only thing that can separate you from God, as much as God loves you, is sin. He says wash your hands; your loyalty is divided between God and the world. In other words, you and I have the responsibility to do it. So what does it mean to walk in purity? Walking in purity simply means following Jesus. That’s all; there is no complexity to it. Walking in purity simply means following Jesus! “…Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God” James4:4. So is it that God begins to hate you because you are a friend of the world? No; the Bible says clearly, You make yourself an enemy of God! In other words, imagine God is heading north but the world is heading south. God is saying, since I am heading north, you cannot follow the world that is heading south and claim to be following Me. Does that make sense? “Can two people walk together
without agreeing on the direction?”Amos3:3. I hope it is clearer now. That is why God says two cannot walk together unless they agree. If you will walk with Jesus, purity is totally inevitable.

When I got saved, the first thing I did was to announce to my friends that I had changed and they laughed at me. They were still my friends and they are still my friends but what happened was that when I was going for Bible study, they were going in the opposite direction, which sometimes was the female hostel. So naturally we headed in different directions. Today most of those friends are saved and we are now going in the same direction. But if I had compromised then and they found Jesus, even if later I get saved, the devil will just confuse me by trying to make me feel worthless. God is saying to you: make the decision for Me today and follow Me.

Thought: Purity becomes easy because all that is required is following Jesus.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, today I set myself in agreement with You and I choose to follow Your leading. Lead me, guide me, purify me, and make me holy, in Jesus Name.
