Embrace It, Walk In It

“God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him.  This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins” 1 John 4:9-10.

So now you don’t have to question God’s love for you any more. Now you know without any doubt that God really loves you. If Martha and Mary were to benchmark their love for Jesus, they would say, ‘The ointment of our life savings, we gave to You’. When God is to benchmark His love for them, He will say, ‘My Son, My only Son I gave to you’. So where do you want to hinge your request – on your works or on His love? You have to let this sink into the very depth of your being [spirit, soul, and body], it is not about how much you love God but about how much He loves you.

The closest people to Jesus have an overwhelming awareness of how much He loves them. Who were the closest people to Jesus when He was on earth? John the beloved; remember John? John would often refer to himself as the disciple that Jesus loved. What John was saying in essence is, I am the favorite. Was he the favorite? Well, arguable. But did Jesus ever rebuke him for calling himself the favorite? No! People may be jealous but that’s their problem. John said, ‘him whom the Lord loves’! What do you say?

Let me tell you a secret; make sure you don’t tell anybody. Are you ready? You are God’s favourite. John didn’t care what Peter or any of the other disciples felt; he took Jesus’ love personal. I am privileged to Pastor God’s Favorite House in Lagos, Nigeria. You know the truth? Every church is actually God’s favorite house because His children are there and that is His favorite place. But not every church embraces the fact that they are God’s favorites. And if you don’t embrace it, you will not walk in the reality of it. My grandmother would say, ‘it is a child that lifts up his/her hands that his/her parents will carry’ [Yoruba proverb translated]. I am God’s favourite son. You know the truth? Every child of God is actually God’s favourite because God really loves everybody but not everybody will accept it and not everybody will embrace it. I have just chosen to embrace it.

Apart from the disciples, Mary, Martha, and Lazarus were the closest to Jesus. They had an overwhelming awareness that Jesus loved them. And when they were going to make a request, they made the request based on that love [the one you love]. My question to you today is: do the people that are closest to you have an overwhelming awareness that you love them or an overwhelming awareness that you are critical of them?

Prayer: Jesus, I embrace Your love. Let Your love for me be real to me every day, in Jesus Name.
