Jesus Is Reliable
“It was by faith that even Sarah was able to have a child, though she was barren and was too old. She believed that God would keep his promise” Heb.11:11.
Jesus is reliable and you can rely on Him for anything and everything.
#3: You can rely on Jesus to make you Holy. “God will make this happen, for he who calls you is faithful” 1Thes.5:24. How do I know that I can be holy? He that called me is reliable. How do you know that you can live a holy life? He that has called you is reliable.
#4: You can rely on Jesus to keep His promise. “Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise” Heb.10:23. Why should we hold tightly without wavering in spite of the trouble; in spite of our timing or in spite of logic? –Because God can be trusted to keep His promise. Isn’t that just satisfying? You have to believe that God will keep His promise. You might be asking why you should still believe? You should believe because God can be trusted to keep His promise. That is so comforting. I can tell you one story after another, personal life experiences but the summary of it all is; God can be trusted. If nothing else from today’s devotion stays with you, make sure this one thing sticks – God can be trusted. Why did Lot’s wife become a pillar of salt? After all, she was following God – right? The Bible did not say she turned back, she was still in church, she was still going for prayer meetings, but her focus changed. Keep your focus on God because He can be trusted. Let this be the comfort you offer everyone around you today.
In response to Mary and Martha’s message, Jesus said, “Lazarus’s sickness will not end in death…” John 11:4. And when Lazarus died, Mary and Martha considered Jesus’ response and looked at Lazarus and buried him. What were they thinking when they considered Jesus’ words? Many of us look at the Word of God and look at our situations and see a contradiction. This explains why both sisters said if you had been here earlier. As far as they were concerned Jesus said it won’t end in death. But if I were to help Jesus articulate His words, Jesus could have said, ‘all I said was that it won’t end in death. I didn’t say it wouldn’t go through death. But at the end of the day, Lazarus will be alive’. Jesus said it will not end in death but we interpret it to mean, it will not lead to death. Jesus is saying, I didn’t say it would not pass through death. For some of us, the fact that what you are going through is passing through death, and you are with Christ, is proof that it will resurrect. Jesus said Lazarus’ sickness would not end in death. Some of us need to go back to our symbolic Lazarus [maybe it’s a business, your finances, your health] and say “Lazarus, you are not going to end in death”.
Prayer: Lazarus [fill in what ever represents a Lazarus in your life right now], will not end in death, in Jesus Name.
