Necessary vs. Convenient
“When this vision came to me, I, Daniel, had been in mourning for three whole weeks. All that time I have eaten no rich food. No meat or wine crossed my lips, and I used no fragrant lotions until those three weeks had passed” Dan.10:2-3.
There are a lot of things that are necessary but not all of these things are convenient. The difference between the great man and the ordinary man is the great man does what is necessary and the ordinary man does what is convenient. The common man is about his convenience and he will resist everything that tries to pull him out of the ‘convenient zone’. Praying for fifteen minutes is extremely inconvenient, meanwhile you can gossip for two hours? You need to decide how your life is going to be formed and shaped; you need to decide and give it what it takes. As a child of God, you have to be ready to pay the price for greatness. Take the basic fasting – waiting on God, for example. Some people say it is inconvenient because of how hard they have to work on their jobs. I say, great people do what is necessary but the average person does what is convenient. Do you now get it?
You will be amazed at the number of people contesting for that marriage, or that bid, or that position with you and you will be shocked at what they are willing to do for it. There is this story about a rich man who wanted to be even richer. And he was told to take a certain sacrifice to the beach at midnight and he must offer it naked. So the man went there, took off his clothes and did the needful. Then the waves came and carried his cloths away. So this rich man had to drive back home, face his guard man, and run into his house naked. People will do all sorts of things to look for power in places where it does not exist. It is written, “that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” Phil.2:10-11. What fasting and praying [spiritual exercises] translate to, is enforcing that victory but you are saying it is not convenient. Not convenient, really? May you not die average, in Jesus Name. Do you think it is convenient for the people that are ruling this world to remain in power? But they stay in power. Spiritual things cannot happen at your convenience because we wrestle not against flesh and blood [Eph.6:12]. The territories that you will take will not be because it is convenient. The Promised Land will have giants. If you have a land and there are no giants, then know that there is no milk and honey in that land. The reason there are giants there is the land is flowing with milk and honey. But even those giants will bow and you will take your Promised Land, to the glory of God the Father.
Prayer: Father, strengthen my hands to pay the price required for the greatness You have set before me, in Jesus Name.
