Outstretched Hand
“Stretch out your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus” Acts 4:30 [emphasis added].
“And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word” Acts 4:29 [emphasis added]. As we have begun to desire, ask, and pray for great boldness, its my prayer that none of our prayers will go unanswered in Jesus Name. For some of us, the boldness we need is to confront our spouse because they have become terrorists. For some people it is their teenage children that are in charge of the house and the parents are the ones been parented by their children. You need to pray for boldness so that you will take your place as parents. In every area we need boldness, we need to pray for boldness. The first thing the disciples prayed for was boldness because they knew they cannot achieve anything without God infusing them with boldness.
The second thing they prayed for was for miracles. Let’s be honest, most of our prayers are little prayers. A lot of our prayers really do not need God. While it is good to pray that God will take you to work safely and bring you back and you should pray that because God is interested in that. But there are many people that are not focused on praying along those lines but are they not coming back? And it is God that is still helping them journey safely. My point is this, let us pray for things that if God does not answer it cannot be done – that is a miracle. A miracle is something that only God can do. When someone that doctors cannot help his or her health challenge takes it to God and God heals that person. That is a miracle and miracles are breaking forth in our midst this season in Jesus Name. We are not afraid to pray for miracles because we know that God is able.
“…O Sovereign Lord, Creator of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them…” Acts 4:24 [emphasis added]. Take note of how the disciples started their prayers. Do you think they were trying to remind God that He is the Creator? Not at all, yet even though they are saying it to praise Him it was also for their own good. When we magnify God and lift His Name high in praise, how high can our hands go really? But it is a valid prayer and praise because by the time you have lifted Him high it is for your own good. When you connect to God as the Creator of the heaven and earth you will see that there is nothing that is impossible with Him. When you know there is nothing that God cannot do then you can ask for miracles believing.
Prayer: [song] What a Mighty God we serve, Hallelujah! (2x) Heaven and earth adore Him, even angels bow before Him. What a Mighty God we serve.
