With Jesus

Yes, come,” Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus.  But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shoutedMatt.14:29-30.

How do you see wind? You really cannot see wind but you can see the waves. Yet Peter saw the waves and the wind because fear exaggerates. Fear is based on exaggeration; yes the waves are there but yes Jesus is also there. I learnt this a long time ago, in walking with God what will keep you is focusing on Jesus and Jesus alone. When you take your eyes off Him you begin to sink.

Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed himMatt.14:31 [emphasis added]. Amazing Jesus! This is so loaded. Jesus saw him sinking and He was watching until Peter cried out. Many times it is as if God is just watching you, that is why you have to cry out “Jesus, thou son of David have mercy on me”. But the Bible says immediately he cried out Jesus reached out and grabbed him. Jesus is just so full of compassion. For egocentric leaders in whatever capacity, when the person you are leading doubts you that is an issue. Some husbands cannot take it. And some of us while Peter was sinking even though he was crying for help, we will let him drink some water before helping him just to teach him a lesson. But Jesus did not do that; Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. So I said to myself why would Jesus say to Peter come and walk on water in the first place? If a child makes a stupid request the adult should know to refuse the child. But why did Jesus agree? What is the value of walking on water, is that the issue? I mean the boat is about to sink, is the issue walking on water? If you look at it on surface that request is totally irrelevant. Why would Jesus just grant an apparently irrelevant request? For two reasons; number one the Peter that walked out of the boat was not the Peter that got back on the boat. God will allow you to go through certain things so that by the time you come back you are a changed person, a different person. The experiences that Peter went through by climbing out of the boat, walking on water, all that drama of sinking and getting rescued. And guess what, Peter and Jesus walked back on water to the boat, Jesus didn’t carry him. How can you teach that experience to anyone? You cannot. God needs to take you through what He needs to take you through so that you can become who He has created you to be. Secondly, he stepped out of the boat alone but he came back accompanied with Jesus. Any journey you go alone and come back with Jesus is totally worth it.

Prayer: Father, I thank You for always coming through for me, thank You for the strength You are using the storms to teach me, in Jesus Name.
